Piece Title: Winter
Piece History: A display of the ambiance produced by streetlights and a blizzard. I've had to
awake to this sight many-a-time in the middle of the night. While I am a writer before all things I've
dabbled in photography and I figured that since the scene was very monochromatic to begin with, the
greyscale given through old-fashioned darkroom photography would be perfect to capture the desolation,
mystery and allure of the piece itself.
Medium: Black and White Photography, developed by hand in a darkroom.
Artist History: I spent one year learning the trade of black and white darkroom photography from
various teachers. I prefer writing to other forms of expression but, as many can tell you, this type of
photography is very emotive work and is more successful in conveying the anachronistic spirit of
myself as the photographer and the spirit of the scene photographed.
Personal Comments: When I first developed this picture I displayed it to people and they told me they
felt cold just looking at it. I think I can take this as a job well done.
